BAREILLY:
Even four days after the sensational dacoity incident that rocked
densely populated Kakartola locality under Baradari Police station, cops
are still groping in the dark as they are still unable to draw any
concrete conclusion.
Police had picked up several suspects, including some close relatives of the victim's family, but are yet to get any leads in the case.
As per reports, the police officials investigating the Rs 1.5 crore robbery at jeweler Umesh Verma's home on December 15 are suspecting the role of an 'insider' who is well known to the family and might have leaked information regarding family members.
Talking to TOI, Verma alleged that cops are not taking the matter seriously. He said that the CCTV footage did not show a group of five people together after the incident, which gives rise to the possibility that they might have left in smallers groups of two or three.
He also alleged that cops are not following up on the lead provided by neighbours who had claimed that they had seen three unidentified youths riding a motorcycle on Monday night. The neighbours had also claimed that the youths might have been from Delhi and were speaking in Haryanvi language. A youth who used to live in a bylane close to the house had recently shifted accommodation and police should investigate this, Verma said.
On Wednesday night, police recreated the scene in a bid to understand the sequence of events. They said the investigation is in progress and they have not left any discrepancy in the case. Based on the description provided by the victims, had prepared sketches of two miscreants who were not wearing mask at the time of the robbery.
Talking to TOI, inspector, Baradari police station, Mohammad Qasim, said, "We have picked up a few people for investigation though so far we are not able to identify any accused. Investigations are going on and we are hopeful that we are heading in the right direction and will crack this case soon."
