Yavatmal paper leak case raised at winter session

AURANGABAD: Two Legislative Assembly Questions pertaining to two criminal cases from the city, including the Yavatmal paper leak scam, have been raised during the on-going winter session in Nagpur.

After the raising of LAQ in the paper leak scam, in which many high profile people including some bureaucrats are suspected of be involved, the possibility of political interference cannot be denied, said a senior police official on the conditions of anonymity.

The LAQ demanding facts and details about the accused involved in the case was raised by Ravi Rana (Badnera), an MLA from Yavatmal district, to which the city police has already sent its reply.

The Aurangabad commissioner of police Rajender Singh confirmed the development but refused to divulge further details.

When asked about any political interference in the case, Singh said, "There is no question of bending down to any political pressure or interference."

Police sources said that following reports of the Yavatmal district collector Raul Ranjan Mahiwal receiving a notice from the Aurangabad police, asking him to cooperate with the on-going investigation and also the seizing of his laptop, left the political and administrative circles abuzz .

Officials privy to the investigation said that the investigation is on the right track and soon the city police may have some 'Big' fish involved in its net.

The EOW had nabbed a sales tax inspector, his accomplice and some candidates along with the answer keys of the Yavatmal ZP exams that were conducted under the chairmanship of Mahiwal.

As many as 18,153 candidates had appeared for the 45 posts at the Yavatmal Zilla Parishad but the exams were later cancelled after the EOW of the Aurangabad police busted the racket over a month back.

The other LAQ pertained to the KBC scam, a multi-level marketing scam running into hundreds of crores, in which innumerable gullible people including some retired policemen, were each duped to the tune of lakhs of rupees
