'The Hobbit' tops weekend box office with staggering $90.6 m earnings

Peter Jackson's much awaited film 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' has opened to a massive 90.6 million dollars in North America.
According to Hollywood Reporter, 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb' starring Ben Stiller came second with 17.3 million dollar earnings, followed by 'Annie' with 16.3 million dollars.


While 'Exodus: Gods and Kings' came in fourth with 8.1 million dollars and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 was placed fifth with 7.8 million dollar earnings.
The top 10 films at the weekend box office are:
1. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies- 56.2 million dollars
2. Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb- 17.3 million dollars
3. Annie- 16.3 million dollars
4. Exodus: Gods and Kings- 8.1 million dollars
5. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1- 7.8 million dollars
6. Wild- 4.2 million dollars
7. Top Five- 3.57 million dollars
8. Big Hero 6- 3.56 million dollars
9. Penguins of Madagascar- 3.5 million dollars
10. P.K- 3.46 million dollars
