AURANGABAD:
With the SpiceJet cancelling its Aurangabad-Delhi flight for the second
consecutive day, the entire passengers has shifted to Air India and Jet
Airways, which operate daily flights to Delhi.
Officials from the tourism department have expressed concern over the decrease in connectivity of the city.
The most sought after Delhi-bound flight from the city is the Jet Airways flight that takes off at 7.50 am. It is followed by SpiceJet at 12.20 pm, and Air India at 4.20 pm.
Some flyers, who had booked their tickets well in advance, have expressed their anguish over cancellation of the flight on Wednesday and said that they were informed about it via text messages.
Experts said that a majority of flyers opting for SpiceJet are cost-conscious people who book their tickets two to three months in advance. In case of cancellation, they do not prefer the costly tickets. So, they are left with no option but to accept what is being offered by the airlines.
On Tuesday, after the Delhi flight was called off, the SpiceJet offered a road journey to its passenger to Mumbai and a flight to Delhi from there.
The SpiceJet authorities could not be reached for their comment on the possibility of their airline operating from Aurangabad in future.
When contacted, authorities at the Jet Airways and Air India said that inquiries have increased and bookings for their Delhi flight have surged.
