After Highway, Imtiaz Ali has begun shooting for Tamasha with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
Though a part of the film has already been shot in France, it's now heard that the director is likely to can another portion in Kolkata. What's more, Imtiaz will be in the city for a recce on Monday . Imtiaz, who began working on the project in 2012, has again teamed up with Ranbir and AR Rahman after Rockstar. In the film, Deepika reportedly sets out on an adventure and meets Ranbir; together they form a troupe and start performing dramatic plays and end up falling in love -hook, line and sinker.
Confirming the Kolkata chapter of the
shoot, production manager Sanu Roy said, "Imtiaz is coming down to check
out the locations in Kolkata. He is familiar with the city and will be
shooting on the Howrah Bridge and the old airport among other places."
The Kolkata leg of the shoot, which is likely to begin mid-January , will also have a sequence on a barge in the middle of the Ganges. Portions of the film will be shot on the city streets and at a corporate office, say sources. Both Ranbir and Deepika will be coming down for the shoot. We've also heard that the team is considering a few actors from Bengal as well. Imtiaz, who is currently working on the logistics of the shoot, could not be reached. The director had earlier shot a part of Love Aaj Kal in Kolkata with Saif Ali Khan and Giselle Montero. He, by his own admission, is a big fan of the Kolkata biryani.
